In 2004 ( at the age of 17) , she won wimbledon defeating serena williams.

In 2006 , she wons US Open ,defeating Justine Henin
(So Total Grand Slam won by sarapova : 2)
In 2008, she won Australian Open ,defeating ana Ivanovic
( So total grand Slams won by sarapova: 3)

On 26 April 1986, the nuclear Reactor in chernobyl,russia exploded. resulting in severe release of radioactive materials into the environment.
The explosion was more severe than the atomic bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki. Over 3,36,000 people were evacuated from this area.
Sarapova's parents were living 80 miles away from chernobyl.
Because of this explosion,they moved to Nyagan which is in the siberian region of Russia.
Sarapova was born here in Nyagan on 19,April 1987.
During her childhood, her parents tried everything on her, from dancing, music, tennis, athletics.
They discovered at the age of four, that tennis is her favourite.
At the age of six,her father took her to a tennis clinic conducted by Martina Navratilova.
On seeing the performance of sarapova, Navratilova told her father that she has talents but needs good training and Florida,USA is the best place for such training.So, they emigrated to Flora.Actually maria and her father left Russia to USA with just $1000 in their hand.
Her father took a variety of low-paid jobs for paying her classes,including washing plates,
Just imagine the sacrifice and confidence in her father.
In almost every family, the parents are sacrificing lot of things for their children. But how many children return back the fruit of this hard labor?

Whenever,people are clapping for her performance, I think of her father. In this image, sarapova is with her father. In this image, I am NOT seeing his face. I am seeing the feeling of a heart which suffered for the past 10 years (from age 6 to 16 of sarapova) and finally when it reached the goal. When I type this page, it is night 12.55. Still I am feeling fresh and looking into the face for the last 10 minutes.. I dedicate this page to Yuri,her father,without him, she is nothing.
